From Setback to Comeback: Jenson Brooksby’s Journey Back to Tennis

Jenson Brooksby is tactical tennis player with a game that’s more unorthodox than most on the pro tour. His fearless approach on the court, he has always stood out as an outlier in the best possible way. After nearly two years away from competition, he is finally back and ready to write the next chapter of his career.

The 24-year-old from Sacramento first broke through in 2021 and quickly earned a reputation as one of the most exciting young Americans on tour. He climbed as high as No. 33 in the ATP rankings in 2022, scoring wins over some of the world’s best players and thrilling fans with his unpredictable style. His run at the 2023 Australian Open, where he toppled world No. 3 Casper Ruud, remains a defining highlight of his early career. But just as momentum was building, injuries forced him off the court. Multiple wrist surgeries sidelined him through much of 2023 and 2024, testing both his patience and his resolve.
Now healthy and motivated, Brooksby is preparing for a strong return. This weekend he joins the Laver Cup in San Francisco as an alternate for Team World under captain Andre Agassi. Even if he does not step into a match, the experience of competing and training with some of the best in the sport is another step forward in his comeback. Afterward, his attention shifts to the Asia swing, with the Shanghai Masters already confirmed on his schedule as he works to rebuild his ranking and re-establish himself among the game’s elite.

At Uomosport, we have been with Jenson since 2021, outfitting him from his breakthrough moments through the toughest challenges of his journey.
