What an incredible Olympics this has been in Paris, 2024. As the closing ceremony descended upon the city, and with it around 9,000 athletes flooded into the stadium to bid farewell to the games and be entertained by 270 performers and artists. It was a ceremony to celebrate humanity and the unifying power of sport, culminating in the handover of the Olympic flag to the next hosts (Los Angeles). Hollywood star Tom cruise abseiled from the roof of the Stade de France and carried out the honour.
The closing ceremony followed 17 days of epic sporting action, set against the backdrop of the most iconic Parisian landmarks.
This year the Olympic Games were not only special to have witnessed from afar, but for us at Uomo Sport we were especially proud to have 2 Olympic tennis players representing and wearing the brand - Milos Raonic (team Canada) and Donna Vekic (team Croatia) as well as dressing Naomi Osaka's coach, Wim Fisette (team Japan).
Donna Vekic won a silver medal for Croatia in the women's tennis singles final against China's Zheng and made history for being the first Croatian woman to win a medal in tennis at the Olympics. After battling through to her first semi-final at Wimbledon last month, this Olympic medal win will now be a personal best for Donna. We are certainly very proud of her, and equally in the way she has represented herself and the brand on and off the court. Donna Vekic has certainly showed the world a masterclass - a true embodiment of a champion from the style of tennis she has been playing down to how she wears our pieces. Try the look of a champion and feel the difference for yourself!
Throughout the Olympics 2024, Donna has been wearing our DonnaSport Sportiva Rossa Pleated Skirt and our DonnaSport white on white visor.
